Islamabad, March 24, 2026

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), in collaboration with the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), has conducted a comprehensive industry-wide training session on its Digital Platform, marking a significant step towards the implementation of a track and trace system for petroleum products across Pakistan.

Held at OGRA’s Head Office in Islamabad, the session drew participation from over 200 industry representatives, with a large number joining virtually. Senior officials from OGRA and PITB were also present.

The training focused on equipping stakeholders with practical understanding of the OGRA Digital Platform, a flagship initiative aimed at digitising the country’s oil supply chain. The system integrates key operational areas including import and export management, production and stock reporting, sales and dispatch monitoring, and real-time data connectivity across refineries, storage depots and retail outlets.

In his opening remarks, Shahzad Iqbal, Chairman OGRA underscored the critical role of digital transformation in enhancing transparency, operational efficiency and real-time monitoring of petroleum product movement nationwide. He noted that the initiative would significantly strengthen regulatory oversight, improve service delivery and support data-driven decision-making within the sector.

Technical experts from PITB led detailed sessions on various modules of the platform, including refinery operations, oil marketing company dashboards, stock and sales reporting, transit tracking, trip generation and ERP integration. The interactive session also enabled participants to raise operational queries and share feedback, which was addressed by OGRA and PITB teams.

OGRA reaffirmed its commitment to modernising Pakistan’s oil sector through technology-driven reforms and continued engagement with industry stakeholders to ensure smooth and effective implementation of the digital system. ends
