
ISLAMABAD (May 4)– Pakistan has ban the import of Indian origin goods by third countries via sea, land and air with immediate effect after India announced ban on Pakistani goods.
On Sunday, Commerce Ministry issued a notification to prohibit Indian origin goods in the interest of national security and in public interest. “In exercise of the power conferred by sub-section (1) of section 3 of the imports & exports (Control) Act, 1950 (XXXIX of 1950), the federal government is pleased to prohibit the good in the interest of national security and in public interest”.

Goods imported from India by third countries via sea, land and air; transiting through Pakistan. The exports of third countries, to India via sea, land and air; transiting through Pakistan and the above mentioned prohibitions shall not be applicable to those imports/ exports for which the bill of lading (B/L) or letter of credit (L/C) is issued or established prior to the issuance of the order.
On Saturday India put banned imports of goods originating from or transiting via Pakistan as relations between the two neighboring countries continue to worsen since the recent Pahalgam attack.
India’s Directorate General of Foreign Trade stated that the ban will take effect immediately. “Direct or indirect Import or transit of all goods originating in or exported from Pakistan, whether or not freely importable or otherwise permitted, shall be prohibited with immediate effect, until further orders,” a notification of Indian Commerce Ministry. ends
