petrol increase by Rs 1

ISLAMABAD (june1) -Consumers will see a slight increase in petrol prices, with the federal government announcing a Rs 1.00 per litre hike effective June 1, 2025, bringing the new price to Rs 253.63. In contrast, the price of high-speed diesel will remain at its current level of Rs 254.64 per litre for the next fortnight. The Finance Division stated late Saturday that this decision, based on recommendations from OGRA and relevant ministries, reflects adjustments in the ex-refinery price of petrol. Although the ex-refinery cost rose, the government opted to significantly lower the Inland Freight Equalization Margin to partially absorb this increase, keeping the overall petrol price rise to a minimum. The petroleum levy on both fuels remains constant. Kerosene oil will also see a marginal price increase. ends
