ISLAMABAD (Dec 5)- In anticipation of the upcoming snowfall in Murree, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has activated its response mechanism to ensure the safety of residents and tourists. To this end, the PDMA has equipped local administrative agencies with essential rescue and relief gear.

At a ceremony held at the Murree Deputy Commissioner’s office, PDMA Director General Irfan Ali Kathia handed over a fleet of trucks carrying crucial equipment, including search-and-rescue jackets, tyre snow chains, mechanical saws, winter tents, raincoats, quilts, warm gloves, and other cold-weather essentials.

Kathia emphasized the importance of preparedness to avert tragedies like the devastating 2022 snowfall incident. To facilitate tourists, 13 centers have been established across the region. Tourists are advised to check weather updates before their visit and to contact PDMA’s 24-hour helpline at 1129 in case of emergencies. ENDs
