The Sindh government has announced the launch of the Benazir Hari Card, a landmark initiative to provide financial relief and subsidies to thousands of farmers across the province.
Sindh Agriculture Minister confirmed on Thursday that registration and verification of 80,000 new farmers has been completed, with the first 50,000 cards to be issued by the end of September.
The cards, being prepared by Sindh Bank, will be distributed in phases, with 50,000 cards handed out every 20 days. Farmers holding the cards will receive direct subsidies and financial support, a move the government says will help stabilize the rural economy.

In a parallel initiative, the provincial government has also introduced subsidies for converting drip irrigation systems to solar energy. Farmers with land holdings between five and 25 acres will be eligible, with 295 solar units set to cover around 4,000 acres of farmland.
Under the cost-sharing model, farmers will contribute 20 percent of the expense, while the government will shoulder the remaining 80 percent.
Officials noted that applications can be submitted until September 20 at the Hyderabad office. The move reflects a promise made by PPP leadership during its election campaign to introduce a “Kisan Card” modeled after the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP).
