Pakistani actress Ushna Shah has reiterated her stance that her condolences for slain US political commentator Charlie Kirk were about humanity, not politics, after criticism of her remarks spread online.
Kirk, 31, was fatally shot while speaking at a Utah university on September 10. A prominent conservative, he founded Turning Point USA and was widely recognised for his outspoken views on immigration, abortion, and foreign policy. He leaves behind his wife and two children.
On Instagram, Shah described his killing as “devastating,” saying the violent death of a young father was tragic regardless of ideology.

She acknowledged her disagreements with Kirk, particularly on Palestine, but said that did not diminish her empathy for his family.
The statement quickly drew polarized reactions. Some argued her sympathy was incompatible with her vocal support for Palestine, while others welcomed her emphasis on shared humanity in times of violence.
Amid the backlash, Shah clarified her position: “I disagreed with Charlie Kirk, especially on Falasteen. Condemning violence and recognizing loss does not weaken my activism.”
