PL collection Rs 719 billion in nine months of current FY

Islamabad (May ) – Federal government has succeeded in collecting petroleum levy (PL) on petroleum products, with a 98 percent rise compared to the same period last year. This surge in tax collection has amounted to Rs 719 billion, marking a considerable increase from Rs 362 billion in the previous year. Additionally, pension expenditure has increased by 46 percent to Rs 710 billion, while the running expenses of the civil government have risen by 31% to Rs 518 billion.

On the other hand, subsidies have decreased by 10% to Rs 473 billion during the same nine-month period. However, there has been a noteworthy increase in provincial spending on public sector works, which has risen by 23% to Rs 888 billion.

This data indicates a substantial impact of tax policies on revenue generation for the government, as well as shifts in expenditure priorities, particularly towards public sector works at the provincial level. ENDs
