Gold Soars to Rs384,000 Per Tola in Record Surge

Gold prices in Pakistan hit unprecedented highs on Monday, marking one of the sharpest single-day increases in recent history.

According to the All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association, the price of 24-carat gold surged by Rs6,100 per tola, reaching Rs384,000. Ten grams also rose by Rs5,230 to settle at Rs329,219.

Silver prices mirrored the trend, climbing by Rs23 per tola to a new record of Rs4,338. On the global front, gold jumped $61 to $3,613 an ounce, reinforcing safe-haven demand amid ongoing economic uncertainty.

Analysts believe the steep rise is linked to geopolitical tensions and fears of economic slowdown worldwide, factors that typically push investors toward precious metals.

Economists warn that the rapid escalation may trigger panic buying in the local market, further driving prices upward.

With Pakistan’s rupee under pressure and inflation already squeezing households, the record-breaking surge could deepen challenges for consumers and investors alike.
